In classic black and white high contrast this kitchen merges various kitchen styles giving it an eclectic feel. The Homeowners envisioned a warm inviting space that encompassed both their style and sensibility. After consulting with AyA designer Joanne Hamaway a country style kitchen with a modern twist became the dream destination. At first glance the kitchen feels different and exotic, it doesn’t have a defined style and sparks your curiosity. The beautiful custom range hood initially draws your eye as it is usually found in a traditional kitchen space, with big decorative details. In this case it adds a slight juxtaposition to a more contemporary feel and style.

The objective was to use neutral and natural materials and combine them with a modern aesthetic. It was important to be hold and make an impact, but also to remain timeless through the use of familar materials. A vast open plan, which spans the entire depth of the house, encourages a very open environment. Despite its openness, there is still a sense of different zones between the spaces. The long window between the uppers and lower cabinets allows for plenty of natural light and adds a lightness to the space.

In a compromise, the couple selected AyA's modern Natural Walnut door and it was paired with the transitional Seaforth Clay door. Marrying both styles made it easier for the clients to appreciate each others design styles throughout the process. Also mixing the two styles creates a visual balance that is very attractive and very on trend. AyA designer Joanne Hamaway included both their personalities and tastes making the space unique, stunning and filled with character. The newlyweds love their new kitchen.
